Please do not rely on these window catches to keep your sash window secure, they are not meant for security, they are latches to keep your window in the closed position, they can easily be manipulated, either by breaking or slipping. You need security key operated window locks, such as window stops.

These window stops are fitted into the style of your window, we always recommend two sets per window, they allow the window to be closed in the lock position, but can also be set to open approximately 4" allowing ventilation and safety for your children. They are key operated and are acceptable by insurance companies.  Our Lock Fitting team can fit them for you.

The same situation goes for casement windows, casement handles are only meant to keep the window closed and will not be accepted by insurance companies, as the glass can be broken and window opened easily. It is required that a key operated lock be fitted to all accessible windows, especially where a flat roofs are as it gives burglaries easy access.   

In this instance it is again advisable, for your safety and for insurance purposes to fit a key operated window lock, there are many good locks on the market the two we are showing here are just two of many, they are both key operated, the cable window restrictor is ideal where you have children or pets, as they allow the window to open, a fraction, allowing for ventilation, but stops children from opening the window fully. Window Lock Fitting Woodstock fit all of these and will advise on the best locks to fit to your doors.
